Testimonials
Tristan has taught our son for almost two years, providing in-person as well as virtual lessons. Our son has grown immensely as a violinist under the tutelage of Tristan. Possessing great expertise and passion for teaching violin, Tristan brings to his lessons a wonderful mix of encouragement and fundamental technique that helps the students to discover and define their emerging musicianship. Tristan also guided our son through his college and conservatory admission process this year. Thanks in large part to Tristan’s guidance, our son got accepted to more than half a dozen top music schools and conservatories, includes Rice University Shepherd School of Music, Vanderbilt University, Indiana University, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Eastman School of Music, University of Texas at Austin and University of North Texas. At each of these schools, our son got accepted into his top choice of studio/teacher and was awarded significant merit scholarships including full ride offers.
Perhaps most importantly, Tristan teaches his students a balanced approach to a life and career in music, often encouraging them to think about life outside of music as well. I highly recommend Tristan to any parent looking for a great violin teacher for their child.

Tristan has been teaching my 9 year old son over a year now. My son loves his lessons. Tristan has the ability to make every violin lesson fun, while still focusing on the critical techniques. Tristan is very responsive to my questions, and always tries his best to accommodate my requests.
-Christa, mother of Jayson,
Tristan worked with my son (7 years old) who at the time was in Suzuki violin book 2. He was patient and firm but tried to make practice fun and inspirational. He exhumed positive energy. After each lesson he sent a “ homework chart” which was customized, so he could work on the skills we practiced during the lesson in a systematic way. This was even harder as the covid pandemic was just beginning, but Tristan rose to the Zoom teaching challenge.

I am a 60-year old beginner, with limited prior musical experience except for a few years of piano lessons as a child. Violin is perhaps one of the most difficult musical instruments to learn. At my age, it seems almost impossibly daunting. Tristan tailors his teaching to my ability. He is gentle, patient, encouraging, and very much in tune with how I respond to his instructions - he tries different ways to communicate so that I understand and can begin to execute what he suggests. He provides many useful short practice exercises that has helped me improve my technique as well as the quality of the my sound and intonation. It is a painstaking process but I am happy to see the progress I have made to date. What sets Tristan apart from many other music teachers is that he cares deeply about his students and he really loves violins and music. Regardless of your age, try taking a lesson with Tristan. You would be so happy when you do.
